Enchanted

Enchanted will take its place alongside many of Disney's beloved classics - the very films it pokes fun at.

Enchanted lives up to its name …and then some.

Working at Disney, I often get to see bits and pieces of movies long before I see the completed film. That's both a blessing and a curse. When I see an early cut of a movie, much of the music, sound effects and visuals are "temp" (or temporary). Because of that, I tend to finish the film with my own imagination, and, when you see the finished product, it never perfectly aligns with what you had in your head.

So began my experience with Disney's latest film, Enchanted. I had seen much of the film early – including the hilarious "Happy Working Song" – so I wasn't quite sure how the finished product would match my expectation. I'm happy to report, I was delighted. The film delivered in every way I'd imagined and gave me some pleasant surprises along the way. It was funny, charming, full of adventure and, well, "enchanting."

Enchanted - Movie Reviews from Disney Dads There was something else that surprised me when I saw the film in the theater: the audience spanned all age groups. Sure, there were your typical families with young kids, but there were also couples (young and old) and even teenagers filling the seats. In fact, the fourteen-year old boy next to me was laughing louder than just about anyone. It was wonderful to find a film that my 4-year-old could enjoy it as much my 8-year-old. While there were some intense scenes – like when the evil queen turns into an old hag and later into a dragon – a simple whisper in her ear to tell her "it's only a pretend dragon" was enough to ease her fears.

In my opinion, Enchanted will take its place alongside many of Disney's beloved classics – the very films it pokes fun at.
